Rosneft Boosts Environmental Safety of Far East Terminals
Two stand-by oil spill response vessels were launched at the Zvezda Shipyard (the city of Bolshoi Kamen) in the Primorsky Territory (Russia's Far East). The vessels: RN Askold and RN Posiet – were ordered by Rosneft.
The vessels are operated by Rosnefteflot, the Company's subsidiary that developed the project and supported vessels’ manufacturing.
The RN Askold and RN Posiet carry unique equipment. These versatile vessels are capable of setting booms, absorbing oily water from the surface, transporting cargo, and mooring. Such vessels will significantly increase the environmental safety of Rosneft terminals in the Far East.
Rosneft is the first Russian customer of civil ships that are fully built by a domestic company of the Far East Federal District. The shipbuilders gained new jobs along with valuable experience necessary for the construction of large offshore facilities.
