Rosneft and ExxonMobil support “Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes” Exhibit

Washington now hosts the final preparations for the opening of "Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes" - an exhibition project, unprecedented in its scale and content, organized by the National Gallery of Art in Washington in collaboration with Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Arrangement of the large-scale exhibit is made possible through the generous support of Rosneft and ExxonMobil. The exhibition will be showcased at the National Gallery of Art (Washington) starting May 12, 2013 and will display some 135 original costumes, set designs, paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings, photographs, posters, and film clips in a theatrical multimedia installation.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Rosneft President and Board Chairman Igor Sechin emphasized, “The project will be a momentous event marking a milestone in the development of the partnership between Rosneft and ExxonMobil. We may now say that we are discovering more than only new oilfields in the interests of future energy security, but also new depths of cultural heritage of our countries in the interests of mutual understanding and respect.”

Tillerson, chairman and chief executive officer, Exxon Mobil Corporation. “We are honored to join Rosneft and the National Gallery of Art in promoting dialogue, interaction and commerce between our two countries.”

Rosneft and ExxonMobil built on their strong relationship in 2011 by signing a strategic cooperation agreement to explore for hydrocarbon resources in the Kara Sea and Black Sea of Russia, which are among the world’s most promising and least-explored areas. The agreement also lays the groundwork to strengthen the companies’ partnership beyond Russia to new opportunities in the United States and elsewhere.

In December 2012 the companies signed agreement for Western Siberia tight oil pilot project and Declaration on Russian Arctic Shelf Environmental Protection.

Rosneft and ExxonMobil invite visitors to experience the “Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes” exhibition and appreciate the beauty of Russian art and the richness of its history. The exhibition will run through September 2, 2013.
