Rosneft President and Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum Discussed Their Cooperation
14 May 2014 Rosneft President, Chairman of the Management Board, Secretary General of Presidential Commission for Strategic Development of the Fuel and Energy Sector and Environmental Safety Igor Sechin and Seyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli, Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum held a working meeting in Moscow. The parties discussed cooperation between Rosneft and GECF, and prospects of formation of the conditions providing implementation of joint projects in GECF countries, including Iran.
‘Gas Exporting Countries Forum is an effective dialog platform for major players of gas segment and credible institution in the region of promotion and protection of interests of the Russian Federation as the largest gas exporter’, as was stated by Rosneft President Igor Sechin during the meeting.

Rosneft gained the right to export LNG since the entry into force of the new version of the law «On Gas Export» 1 December 2013.
Seyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli held various positions in departments and ministries of Iran. 3 November 2013 during the 15th GECF ministerial meeting he was elected as the Secretary General of Gas Exporting Countries Forum for the period 2014-2016, succeeding the Russian Federation representative Leonid Bokhanovsky. Seyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli took office 1 January 2014. GECF is headquartered in Doha, Qatar.
Iran has the world’s second-largest reserves of gas after the Russian Federation (proven reserves amounted to 34 trillion cubic meters).
