Rosneft’s subsidiaries will celebrate World Environment Day by participating in the Company’s Ecologist Day
This year, World Environment Day (WED) celebrated every year on June 5, will be used as a good occasion to hold the Company’s Ecologist Day, a corporate event which has already become traditional for Rosneft. On the eve of the holiday, specialists from respective divisions of 70 + subsidiaries will gather to discuss issues of paramount importance in the area of environmental safety in the regions of Company presence.
The event’s agenda includes round tables focusing on creating an environmental safety management system, as well as:
- subsidiaries sharing positive experience and best practices in oil spill response, including improvement of efficiency and quality of oil spill containment and elimination of its environmental impact;
- discussing relevant aspects of subsidiary interaction with contractors working on Company sites.
Also, as part of the Company’s Ecologist Day, operational sites and facilities will be examined, including landfills and treatment facilities, special-purpose drones will demonstrate their capabilities, corporate geo-information system tools will be demonstrated and key land remediation issues will be discussed.
Environmental safety and environment protection are Rosneft’s important policy priorities. That is why, to achieve top performance in this area, the Company is continuously increasing the scope of its nature protection actions and the scale of its ‘ecological’ investment. Over the past 5 years (from 2009 through 2013), the world’s largest oil and gas company spent the total of over RUB125 billion on environment protection (including related expenditure). In 2014–2018, over RUB250 billion is planned to be channeled on environment protection (with over RUB 74 billion of direct environment protection investment), while the average current annual expenditure will amount to RUB 21 billion.
The Company’s Ecologist Day is becoming a good tradition which enhances the corporate responsibility of the Group companies for environmental safety issues in line with the objectives and requirements set by the Rosneft senior management and with the Company’s overall policy in industrial, occupational and environmental safety.
