Rosneft finished seismic data acquisition in West-Siberian Sea ahead of license liabilities schedule
Rosneft finished a complex of seismic data acquisition on the East-Siberian-1 block in the offshore area of the East-Siberian Sea. The Company carried out seismic data survey independently, the amount of 2D works totaled 2 thousand km.
Despite of extremely severe ice conditions this year, all works were carried out to full extent and ahead of terms of the licensed liabilities schedule. The whole survey was conducted from Orient Explorer, a specialized scientific research vessel.
Seismic data acquisition is a reliable method of geologic data survey and due to its high resolution capacity allows creating very precise geologic models of blocks under analysis, increasing the probability of correct assessment of its oil and gas bearing potential.
Geologic data acquisition in the East-Siberian Sea was carried out in line with all the regulations of the Russian Federation environmental legislation. Together with already conventional programs of ecologic monitoring and manufacturing supervision, an ice expert was present at the vessel during works, to control ice conditions and prevent risks of ice hazards.
The geologic data acquisition is implemented by Rosneft's subsidiary RN-Shelf-Far East.
Notes for Editors:
The East-Siberian-1 block is situated in the western part of the East-Siberian Sea. The block license was received on 30.12.2013. The plot area is 187400 square km. The sea depth within the block ranges from 7 to 60 m. According to preliminary assessment of recoverable resources, the oil reserves total 1367 mt, gas reserves – 1166 bln cubic m.
