Igor Sechin Took Part in the Ceremony of Load out Barge Keel Laying for Zveda Shipbuilding Complex

During a working visit to China, Rosneft Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin took part in a ceremony of laying the keel of a load out barge for a modern shipbuilding complex Zvezda being constructed in the Russian Far East. The event took place at the BSIC shipyard in the city of Qingdao five months after metal was cut for the facility.

The 40,000 ton barge is designed to load out and launch into the water up to 300 m long and 51 m wide vessels, as well as marine equipment, in particular up to 118 m long and 70 m wide drilling platforms, from Zvezda's open outfitting dock.

No such equipment has ever been used by Russian shipyards before. The barge is designed to operate with no supports and allows for longitudinal rolling of vessels from the shipyard's three different staple lines and transverse rolling of offshore facilities.

The construction progress is in full compliance with the schedule and contractual obligations.

Notes for editors:

The contract for the construction and supply of the load out barge was executed in June 2016 as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China.  The document was signed by representatives from Zvezda, China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co. Ltd. (CSOC) и Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (BSIC).

The contract provides for the Chinese companies to develop the design, manufacture the equipment, train the crew and test the barge in Bolshoi Kamen Bay in the Russian Far East.

Russian specialists' participation at all stages of the design and construction will enable the facility to effectively integrate into the shipyard's operations. Concurrently, CSIC's unique experience and expertise will minimize any project risks.
