On October 16, 2013, Igor Sechin, Rosneft President and Chairman of the Management Board, took part in the 22nd World Energy Congress in Daegu, South Korea.
The World Energy Congress is one of the most authoritative international energy forums and a key place for the development of energy dialogue between nations.
At the forum, Igor Sechin held working meetings with KOGAS President Seok-hyo Jang and STX CEO Ryu Chung-hyun and STX Founder Kang Duk-soo.
The parties negotiated possible cooperation in LNG shipments from Russia. Technical cooperation in civil shipbuilding also became one of the key topics.
Rosneft is the largest license holder of the Russian offshore blocks and ordering customer of special marine facilities, engineering and infrastructure. In order to implement arctic projects efficiently, the Company launched a program for the development of a special industrial shipbuilding cluster to purchase and localize missing technologies.
Igor Sechin also took part in the plenary session of the Congress and delivered a report on the global energy security.
According to Igor Sechin, it is based on the institute of long-term contracts, which “is the most important legal binding tool to ensure energy security that is impossible to break without considerable economic consequences on the basis of litigations.” “The long-term contracts contribute to building the corporate level system of mutual responsibility.
Politics should not impede contracts implementation. Contracts should have a top priority over any other national or regional interests. Perhaps, we need to standardize contracts and ensure certain guarantees for their immunity,” Igor Sechin said.
