Rosneft, Together with Yandex, Enhances Contactless Fuel Payment Capacities

Rosneft and Yandex are launching a joint project for remote fuel payment through the Yandex.Fuel mobile service.

Rosneft, Russia’s largest retail network of gas stations, will connect its outlets to service in three stages: the first to join the project in May are 327 gas stations under the Rosneft and BP* brands in Moscow and the Moscow Region, 126 PFC* gas stations in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, and 66 gas stations of Bashneft* in Ufa. Broadening of mobile service scope and connection of Rosneft retail network filling stations to the Yandex.Fuel service in other large Russian cities are planned for the second stage. Thus, by autumn the number of gas stations offering the Yandex.Fuel service will reach more than 1,100. All 3,000 filling stations managed by Rosneft under Rosneft, BP, Bashneft PFC, and TNK brands will be connected to the service in the future. At the first fuelling via Yandex.Fuel, customers will be able to purchase fuel with a 10%** benefit with the Yandex promotional code.

Accelerating digitalization and improving business efficiency are amongst the Company’s key objectives in implementing the Rosneft-2022 Strategy. Rosneft was the first in Russia to launch a fuel payment service for corporate clients through its own RN-Card mobile application, as well as special services for individuals together with MCB and Tinkoff banks in order to increase the rate and improve the quality of the service.

The cooperation with Yandex will significantly expand opportunities for the use of contactless fuel payment service and contribute to the safety of car drivers, which is extremely important in the current epidemiological situation.

Yandex.Fuel service is integrated into Yandex.Navigator, informing the user about the availability of the required fuel at each filling station and the optimal route, and at the filling station, it allows choosing the number of the filling post, the type of fuel and its volume, as well as paying for filling without leaving a car. The service is also available for corporate clients, including taxi fleets, through the Taximeter application.

In addition, Rosneft planned to expand the range of distance services for retail customers in cooperation with Yandex.

“The realities of the modern retail market require gas stations not only to have high-quality motor fuel but also a high level of service. It is precisely by this parameter that companies today compete among themselves. Rosneft follows current market trends, actively implementing digital solutions, such as contactless fuel payment, to improve the quality and rate of its customer service. A significant synergetic effect will be achieved through the cooperation of Rosneft, Russia’s largest retail chain, with one of the leading Russian IT companies. Refuelling at Rosneft’s filling station network using the Yandex.Fuel service will become fast and safe, and our customers will be able to get prompt information about the availability of the fuel and build an optimal route to the filling station,” Avril Conroy, Rosneft Vice President for Retail Business, said.

“The share of drivers who refuel using Yandex applications has doubled over the past month. This means that car users are increasingly opting for stations with quick and safe fuel payment. 4,150 gas stations throughout Russia are already working with us. Together with Rosneft, the number of stations will almost double,” Roman Prudnikov, head of the Yandex.Fuel service, said.
