Rosneft introduces the use of neural networks in monitoring occupational safety and health

The experts at АО Novokuybyshev Refinery (a part of Rosneft's Samara group of enterprises) have developed and introduced an innovative programme for monitoring occupational safety and health with the use of a learning neural network. The operating principle of the programme is based on the artificial intelligence technology, that captures videostream from surveillance cameras, highlights manufacturing areas and identifies violations of safety regulations. Photographic evidence of a violation is read by the programme and sent to a single data centre of the enterprise.

Digitalization in all areas of operation of the Company is one of the key objectives of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. Introduction of digital technologies is intended to increase transparency, manageability and speed of decision-making throughout the production chain.

The use of the neural network will also allow to control the use of individual protective gear by the employees and to identify the personnel present at the industrial site without special access.
