1,725-Seat School Constructed in Nizhnevartovsk with Support from Rosneft

Nizhnevartovsk has opened a modern school for 1,725 pupils built as part of the National Education Project with the support of Rosneft Oil Company. The new school will become one of the centres of the educational, social and cultural life of the Samotlor capital. The opening ceremony of the new school was attended by Natalia Komarova, Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area--Yugra.

The construction of the school was based on advanced technical solutions. The 29,000 square metre building consists of three interconnected blocks. The school has 69 classrooms with advanced teaching equipment. The new school will offer comprehensive educational programmes for the integrated development of pupils.

The building is equipped with a mobile physics laboratory and digital laboratories for chemistry, biology and ecology for practical and project-based activities. Advanced study of natural sciences will take place in the biomedical classroom fitted with the unique Pirogov sensory anatomy complex. Foreign language classrooms are equipped with linguistic equipment, and the primary school has its own project laboratory and mobile computer room.

The school has a four-lane, 25-metre swimming pool as well as three multifunctional sports halls. The school grounds include a multifunctional sports and recreation complex, including a combined football and basketball court, volleyball and gymnastics courts and a running track.

The auditorium, designed as a concert hall, has a seating capacity of 400. The school also offers a library with a reading room. Outside school hours, the institution will offer a video and TV studio, robotics engineering classes, and creative and sporting activities. The school also has two spacious canteens and a up-to-date medical unit.

Significant attention has been paid to creating a barrier-free environment--the school has elevators, ramps and lifts for pupils with disabilities. The use of energy-efficient building materials, including insulation based on natural raw materials, ensures comfortable environment in the Siberian climate.

Nizhnevartovsk and Nizhnevartovsk District are the base territories of Samotlorneftegaz, one of Rosneft’s largest production assets. The enterprise makes a significant contribution to the social development of the region under the Cooperation Agreement between Rosneft Oil Company and the Government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area--Yugra.

The enterprise’s major projects currently underway in Nizhnevartovsk include participation in the construction of the Quantorium children’s technology park, reconstruction of the city embankment and landscaping of the Samotlor Heroes square.

A number of important social facilities are being built in Nizhnevartovsk District. The Company has been helping build a modern cultural and educational centre in the Laryak settlement, a cultural centre in the Vata settlement and an embankment in Izluchinsk.
