Rosneft Plants Over 1.5 Million Trees in 2020
In 2020, Rosneft Oil Company and its subsidiaries planted more than 1.5 million seedlings of various types of trees.
Annually on March 21, the world celebrates the International Day of Forests, established by the UN General Assembly in 2012. Its main topic in 2021 was “Forest restoration: the way from crisis to prosperity.” Forest restoration and harmonious exploitation play a significant role in combating climate change.
Rosneft regularly carries out extensive work to ensure environmental safety, preservation and restoration of natural resources. Since one of the Company’s priorities is to fight against climate change, much attention is paid to the preservation and restoration of forests.
In total, more than 60 subsidiaries of Rosneft took part in planting seedlings in 2020. The largest contribution to the results of the planting campaign was made by RN-Uvatneftegaz, RN-Yuganskneftegaz, RN-Nyaganneftegaz, Bashneft-Dobycha, Varyeganneftegaz, the Achinsk Refinery, Samotlorneftegaz, Rosneft-Dagneft, and the Komsomolsk Refinery.
Overall, the Company has planted over 3.5 million seedlings in the last 3 years.
Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company sees its main objectives in improving the environmental friendliness of its production and minimising the impact on the environment.
