Rosneft Shows Record Positive Dynamics in Sustainalytics ESG Rating

Rosneft Oil Company continues to strengthen its position in leading international ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance) ratings.

Sustainalytics, the international ESG rating agency, improved the Company’s position by a record 4.7 points to 34.7 points. Rosneft showed the most positive dynamics among competitors.

In 2020, Rosneft Oil Company presented its updated public stance – “Rosneft: Contribution to Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals”, Public Statement regarding human rights and the Declaration of Respect for Human Rights during interaction with suppliers of goods, works and services.

Rosneft announced targets as part of the 2035 Carbon Management Plan reviewed by Rosneft’s Board of Directors in December 2020, including reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of up to 20 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, a 30% reduction in the emission intensity of oil and gas production, a decrease in the methane emission intensity below 0.25%, and zero routine flaring of associated gas.

Since 2007, Rosneft has been publishing Sustainability Reports in accordance with the international standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The Company has been a member of the UN Global Compact for over a decade, thus confirming its commitment to the highest principles of sustainable development.

Rosneft has been included in the FTSE4Good list of member companies with a high score on ESG performance and transparency in disclosure for the second consecutive year.
