Modern Water Quality Control Chemical Analysis Laboratory Launched at Verkhnechonskoye Field
Verkhnechonskneftegaz, an upstream asset of Rosneft Oil Company, implemented a water chemical analysis laboratory at the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate field. Due to the remoteness of production, the issue of water quality operational control moves to the foreground. The laboratory allows conducting tests of drinking and natural water (from the surface and underground springs) and wastewater.
The new laboratory will conduct about 10,000 tests annually in 68 indicators, including levels of water hardness, particulates, metal ions, surface active substances, petroleum-based products and others. The laboratory was successfully accredited by the government and confirmed compliance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
The launch of its own water laboratory at the Verkhnechonskoye field allows conducting the tests swiftly, as the field specialists can monitor the quality of water 24 hours per day. Moreover, the economic effect will exceed 22 million roubles.
With the new water quality control laboratory, four testing laboratories operate at the production facilities of the field. On average, more than 270,000 tests of oil, gas and water are conducted annually.
Note for Editors:
Verkhnechonskneftegaz JSC is developing the Verkhnechonskoye oil and gas condensate field, one of the largest in East Siberia, located in the Katangsky District of Irkutsk Region.
Rosneft pays great attention to the rational water consumption. The Corporate Environmental Efficiency Improvement Programme provides a wide range of environmental measures including reducing the water intake from natural sources, increasing the volume of recycled and reused water, the environmentally friendly management of produced oilfield water and the introduction of modern wastewater purification systems.
