Syzran Refinery Employees Plant 7,000 Pine Seedlings
Syzran Refinery, a subsidiary of Rosneft, planted 7,000 pine seedlings during the national environmental campaign Green Spring 2021. The artificial reforestation work was conducted in Syzran District of Samara Region.
In 2010, the forest fires destroyed about 10 hectares of forest. Now, as a result of the campaign, a quarter of this area has been re-planted with two-year seedlings with the oilmen’s help. In this age, the root system development gives high survival ability to the plants.
The artificial planting reduces the reforestation period after the forest fires and contributes to ecologic balance and biological diversity preservation in the region. Coniferous forests, the share of which in the total forest area in the region amounts to 13%, are of particular value to Samara Region.
Rosneft is consistently working to conserve and restore natural resources. In 2020 alone, Rosneft Oil Company and its subsidiaries planted more than 1.5 million seedlings of various types of trees.
To achieve the strategic aim in environmental protection, defined in the Rosneft-2022 Strategy, the Company increases the scale of environmental measures and the necessary investments for these purposes. For instance, Rosneft plans to spend about 136 billion roubles on environmental measures at its refineries by 2024. The Company’s green investments have amounted to some 240 billion roubles in the last five years.
Note for Editors:
