Rosneft Participates in Green Spring 2021 National Environmental Clean-up
Rosneft and its subsidiaries took part in the National environmental campaign Green Spring 2021. Green Spring is an annual project implemented by the Vernadsky Non-Governmental Environmental Foundation. This year, the Green Spring 2021 national environmental clean-up has taken place on April 24 through May 24.
Rosneft annually takes part in the Green Spring campaign, as well as in other environmental initiatives. This year, the Green Spring was attended by employees of the Company’s Headquarters, as well as more than 50 subsidiaries of Rosneft. Among them are the largest production and processing assets of the Company, in particular Yuganskneftegaz, RNPK, Nyaganneftegaz, VCNG, Rospan International, Orenburgneft and many others.
Environment protection is an integral part of Rosneft Oil Company’s corporate culture and social policy. The Company is implementing a number of comprehensive programmes for the preservation and restoration of natural resources. As part of the expansion of Rosneft’s ESG activities in 2018, the Company’s Board of Directors approved measures in terms of adherence to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. These goals include Life on Land and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
As part of the Green Spring campaign, employees of the Volga Federal District oil refineries of the of Rosneft (Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery, Kuibyshev Oil Refinery, Syzran Oil Refinery, Saratov Oil Refinery) cleaned 20,000 square meters of coastal territories and removed more than 7 tonnes of household waste and waste brought by the Volga. Also, employees of the factories carried out reforestation work and planted 7,000 Scots pine seedlings.
Eco-activists of the subsidiary Samotlorneftegaz cleaned 10 kilometres of the coastline of the taiga lake Kymyl-Emtora, collected and removed about 135 cubic meters of garbage. About 300 people took part in the clean-up.
Employees of the Company in Tyumen (Uvatneftegaz, Tyumenneftegaz, Tyumen Oil Research Centre, etc.) held a clean-up on the territory of Lake Pesyanoe. 250 employees took part in the action. As a result of the clean-up, the oil workers not only collected 700 bags of garbage on the territory of 16 hectares, but also organised the sorting of garbage to be sent for recycling.
At the Green Spring, Udmurtneft supported an environmental campaign to study and improve the natural sources of water in Izhevsk. As part of the project, water quality studies were carried out in six springs in the city of Izhevsk, and eco-clean-ups were organised.
