Rosneft Takes Part in Water Bodies and Springs Cleaning Action
Rosneft and its subsidiaries participated in Water of Russia environmental action. The goal is to draw attention to the conditions of the reservoirs, rivers, lakes, springs, and other water bodies, as well as to engrain deep care to nature and resources.
Responsible attitude towards the environment is an integral part of the Company's corporate culture and one of the key principles of its business. To prove its compliance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Rosneft is implementing a comprehensive water conservation programme that includes using advanced technological solutions.
Rosneft and Group Subsidiaries annually participate in various environmental initiatives. This year, employees of the Company's largest refining and production subsidiaries took part in the water bodies cleaning action. Among them are Samara group of refineries, Bashneft-Dobycha, Orenburgneft, Verkhnechonskneftegaz, Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha, Tomskneft, Samaraneftegaz, Irkutsknefteproduct, and others.
Eco-volunteers of Purneftegaz conducted laboratory research on natural waters quality in 32 places of the 9 fields of the Company. Thus, the quality of water in the main rivers (Pyaku-Pur, Kharampur, Pyryayakha, Edikuyakha, Khaletayakha, Khansebeyakha, and others) and springs of Purovskiy District was monitored. The employees also cleaned the area of the spring, a source of freshwater for drivers, near the highway of Gubkinsky town.
The young specialists of Angarsk Polymer Plant cleaned the area of springs near Savateevka village of the Angarsky District. Orenburgneft's specialists took away the garbage from the banks of the Sorochinskoye reservoir and cleaned the area near the spring in Grachevka village.
Novokuibyshevsk Refinery, Kuibyshevsk Refinery, and Novokuibyshevsk Oils and Additives Plant organized the cleanup at the spring lake in Voskresenka village. The oilmen managed to gather and scavenge 45 cubic meters of household and nature garbage.
In addition, Syzran Refinery continues upgrading the wastewater treatment plant. When completed, the wastewater treatment will be done at the membrane bioreactor based on the up-to-date technological solutions. The system of the recycling water supply is also being developed at the refinery. At the end of 2020, the parameter of recycled water used in production reached 94,6%.
Since 2019, the Company has been a member of the UN Global Compact and in 2018 reaffirmed its commitment to 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Rosneft pays great attention to the rational water consumption. The Corporate Environmental Efficiency Improvement Programme provides a wide range of environmental measures including reducing the water intake from natural sources, increasing the volume of recycled and reused water, the environmentally friendly management of produced oilfield water and the introduction of modern wastewater purification systems.
