Orenburgneft Cuts Water Consumption from Natural Sources
Orenburgneft, an enterprise of the upstream complex of Rosneft Oil Company, has reduced water intake from natural sources at the Lebyazhinskoye field by 28%. Thanks to the measures taken over 2.5 years to increase the level of re-used water in the production process, the volume of "makeup"* water consumption decreased by more than 3 million cubic metres.
Responsible attitude towards the environment is an integral part of Rosneft Oil Company's corporate culture and one of the key principles of its business. The Company improves corporate processes of water use management consistently by using modern technologies of purification and safety of waters.
By the end of 2021, Orenburgneft plans to implement a project for high-pressure water pipelines construction at the fields of the Volostnovsko-Zemlyansky cluster and reduce freshwater consumption for injection by 63% (more than 1,300 cubic metres per day) through the conversion of injection wells to formation water injection.
In addition, the implementation of the project to change the source of the Pron'kinskoye field flooding will reduce the level of ground water consumption from the river Samara by more than 4,000 cubic metres per day.

The Lebyazhinskoye field is in the southwest of the Orenburg region. The cumulative oil production at the field is about 6 million tons.
*"Makeup" water is fresh water taken from the surface and underground water bodies, including supplied by the third parties under the agreements of water supplies. It is used for production, practical and other needs of the Company.
