Rosneft Using 3D Technology to Train Employees

Specialists from the Tyumen Petroleum Research Centre (Rosneft’s research and development institute) have developed software to conduct virtual tours across the Company’s Sorovskoye field. The main purpose of the 3D tour is to provide distance learning for young professionals and to train employees of corporate institutes in the specifics of upstream assets operation.

Digitalisation in all areas of the Company’s operation is one of the key objectives of the Rosneft 2022 Strategy. The introduction of digital technology accelerates decision-making throughout the Company’s production chain.

The Tyumen Centre is actively using virtual reality technology in the training process. Earlier the specialists had developed software to conduct interactive tours at Rosneft’s unique in-house Core Research Centre and Technology Cluster Museum. Young professionals and employees gain new knowledge and unique experience thanks to accurate visualisation, replay and simulation of emergency situations. In addition, virtual tours do not require presence on site in person, which is particularly relevant during the pandemic of coronavirus infection.
