Saratov Refinery Conducts a Study of Water Quality in the Saratov's Springs

The Saratov Refinery (part of the oil refining complex of Rosneft) carried out an environmental campaign Clean Water to check the quality of water in the Saratov's springs.

Preserving the environment for future generations is an integral part of the activities of Rosneft and its subsidiaries. To prove its compliance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Company is implementing a comprehensive water conservation programme that includes using advanced technological solutions.

As part of an environmental campaign held jointly with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Saratov Region, spring water from seven natural sources was tested for the content of 12 different substances, including nitrates, ammonium, chlorides, iron, bacterium intestinal bacillus and others. The samples taken by the specialists were sent to the sanitary laboratory of the Saratov Refinery, which has high-tech equipment for conducting complex research. Laboratory specialists carry out more than 40,000 analyses per year, including studies of atmospheric air, water, and soil. The laboratory has maintained the status of an accredited testing centre for over 20 years, regularly confirming its compliance with international and national standards GOST ISO / IEC 17025.

The results of the analyses will be published on the official website of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, as well as on information stands each spring checked by specialists.

Thus, within the national program Green Spring 2020, the employees of the enterprise cleared 10 hectares of coastal areas. As part of the project to restore the fish resources of the Volga River, Saratov refinery employees in 2020 released more than 90,000 sterlets and carp fry into the Volgograd reservoir.

An ecological action Clean Air is held annually to control the quality of atmospheric air in Saratov and Engels. The mobile laboratory of the enterprise by doing the express analysis checks the atmospheric air for the content of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, saturated C1-C10 hydrocarbons. For 9 more pollutants, studies are carried out based on the stationary sanitary laboratory of the Saratov Refinery.
