Angarsk Petrochemical Company Begins Production of Medical Oxygen
Angarsk Petrochemical Company, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s oil refining and petrochemical complex, has started producing liquid medical oxygen, the demand for which has increased in medical facilities in the region amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The first batch of medical oxygen is intended for the Angarsk Perinatal Centre. Angarsk Petrochemical Company plans to expand the range of medical oxygen consumers and is currently negotiating with the region’s other relevant institutions to supply the new product.
The quality of medical oxygen is monitored by specialists from the in-house quality control centre. The multi-stage quality control at each production stage provides for a high-purity product of at least 99.5 % oxygen.
The enterprise has secured a licence for the new product from the Russian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade within a short period of time. Medical oxygen is included in the State Register of Medicines.
Angarsk Petrochemical Company has upgraded its nitrogen and oxygen unit in order to make the new product. The enterprise assembled an additional process line with a new liquid oxygen manifold and storage tanks for cryogenic products. Oxygen is produced by separating air using the deep-cold method.
In addition to medical oxygen, Angarsk Petrochemical Company also produces industrial and gaseous oxygen.
