Rosneft Shows Compliance with International Health, Safety and Environmental Standards

Rosneft’s Integrated Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSE IMS) has once again conformed to the requirements of ISO 45001:2018, Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 14001:2015, Environmental Management System.

Compliance with the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards is a priority for Rosneft Oil Company in all business areas. One of the main objectives of the Rosneft 2022 Strategy is to achieve global leadership in key HSE indicators by the end of 2022.

The integrated HSE management system was introduced at Rosneft and its subsidiaries in 2006, designed to achieve the Company’s key objectives and manage health, safety and environmental risks. A review for compliance with international standards is carried out annually by an independent accredited auditor.

In 2021, DQS audited the integrated HSE management system of Rosneft and its subsidiaries across all business segments as follows: Upstream, Downstream, and Services. Following the assessment, the auditors confirmed the high level of development of Rosneft’s HSE management system.

The auditors noted positive changes in most environmental indicators in 2020, reflecting a strong management performance in this area. Furthermore, Rosneft was the first company in Russia to present the comprehensive Carbon Management Plan 2035 featuring clear targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The plan includes the following:

  • prevention of direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions of 20 million tonnes CO2-equivalent,
  • a 30% reduction in the intensity of direct and indirect emissions in oil and gas production,
  • a methane emission rate below 0.25%, and
  • zero routine flaring of associated gas.
