Rosneft Launches Online Science Course
Rosneft Oil Company has launched its Open Lectures online project together with Innopraktika and the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The lectures will be posted on the Battle of the Minds online platform, available to all.
The series of lectures by the country’s leading geologists, biologists, geochemists, hydrometeorologists and other scientists is designed to promote appreciation of ecosystem integrity and broaden the understanding of ecology and the formation of land, water basins and seabed landscapes. Attendees will learn about the role of microorganisms in human life and innovative developments in environmental protection, as well as the latest research in the northern seas.
As part of the lecture series, experts will talk about Rosneft’s research projects implemented jointly with Innopraktika, among others. One of the projects focuses on building a credible geological model of the Russian Arctic. During the last two years of research expeditions, stratigraphic wells were drilled in the Kara Sea and the Laptev Sea for the first time in the history of Russian continental shelf exploration. Today, excavated sedimentary basin rock samples are being examined in detail by MSU Geology Department specialists. Furthermore, scientists will talk about their experience with creating environmental atlases of Russian seas, as well as about developing an effective biological agent for cleaning the northern seas from hydrocarbon pollution. In 2021, the project won an International Award for Scientific Excellence.
The Open Lectures will be beneficial to young scientists, postgraduates and students, as well as anyone interested in the latest scientific developments and technologies aimed at studying and preserving the environment. You can watch the lectures at science-battle.ru.
