Udmurtneft Achieves Economic Effect of over 200 Million Roubles from Energy Saving Programme

Udmurtneft, a joint venture between Rosneft and the Chinese petrochemical corporation Sinopec, saved more than 46 million kWh of electricity in 2021 through its energy-saving programme. The economic gain exceeded 200 million roubles.

Over the year, the enterprise carried out 680 actions designed to optimise equipment operation modes at the mechanised well stock and power and heat generation facilities and onshore infrastructure.

Improvement of production asset efficiency is one of the key components of the Rosneft’s strategy. The Company and its subsidiaries carry out consistent work aimed at sustainable utilisation of resources and reduction of energy consumption, optimisation of electrical loads and thermal processes in accordance with the requirements of international standard ISO 50001 “Energy Management System”.

In 2021, one of the main activities under the energy saving programme was the replacement of the pump with a more energy-efficient one at the cluster pumping station at the Arkhangelskoye field. The result is an average monthly saving of more than 100,000 kWh of electricity. In addition, efficient pumping equipment was installed at the oil treatment and pumping unit at the Yelnikovskoye field. The five-month effect amounted to 33,500 kWh. The intermittent supply of formation water using a pumping-free scheme at the Yelnikovskoye field cluster pumping station saved some 73,400 kWh over five months.

Significant energy savings were also achieved through the introduction of an automated metering system for process parameters. In 2021, this system was introduced at eight reservoir pressure maintenance facilities of Udmurtneft, as well as production and injection wells at four fields. Currently, 33 reservoir pressure maintenance facilities and 69% of production wells are connected to the metering system. Digital technology makes it possible to assess equipment efficiency in real time, identify potential energy savings, take specific energy consumption into account and promptly implement corrective measures. In addition, Udmurtneft is implementing a programme to convert its existing lighting system to energy-saving and environmentally friendly sources.

Every year, Udmurtneft undergoes an independent audit to confirm that the energy management system at the enterprise is functioning successfully and that an action plan for its further development is being implemented.

Note for Editors:

Udmurtneft is the largest oil-producing enterprise in the territory of Udmurtia, providing 60% of crude produced in the region. The enterprise is managed by Rosneft PJSC and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec). It develops 34 fields located in 14 districts of the republic.
