Rosneft Will Take Part in the All-Russian Environmental Cleanup Green Spring — 2022
Rosneft and its subsidiaries will take part in Green Spring 2022, the All-Russian Environmental Cleanup that brings together more than a million people every year. The initiative aims to foster a culture of community living in harmony with nature.
The campaign will include planting flowers and trees, cleaning coastlines, improving production facilities and urban areas, as well as holding competitions on environmental themes. Employees from the Company’s Headquarters and its subsidiaries have taken part in the Green Spring Cleanup for the fourth year running.
Preservation of the environment is an integral part of the corporate culture and development strategy of Rosneft. One of the Company’s key priorities is to minimise its environmental impact and to make its production more eco-friendly. This is why Rosneft invests heavily every year in long-term projects that aim to protect the environment. Over the past three years, the Company has spent more than 150 billion roubles on the environment-oriented activities. A lot of work is being done to rebound and compensate for forest plantations — since 2019 only, the Company and its subsidiaries have planted around 12 million seedlings.
Since 2007, Rosneft has been publishing Sustainability Reports in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). In 2021, the Company was the only Russian oil and gas corporation recognised as a leader in sustainable development and included in the Global Compact LEAD initiative for its continued commitment to the UN Global Compact and its ten principles of responsible business.
At the end of 2021, Rosneft’s Board of Directors approved the strategy «Rosneft-2030: sustainable energy and the global energy transition». As part of the document, Rosneft was the first in the Russian oil and gas industry to set a strategic goal of achieving net carbon neutrality by 2050.
