Tyumenneftegaz Supports Solyonoye Lake Research Programme

Tyumenneftegaz, part of Rosneft Oil Company's upstream complex, has launched a grant project to study the biodiversity of Solyonoye Lake and its surroundings.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture and social policies of Rosneft. The Company has a number of comprehensive programmes for the conservation and restoration of natural resources, including the use of modern technology.

Under the project, experts from Tyumen State University will make complete lists of plants, animals and fungi in the surroundings of Solyonoye Lake and propose ecological measures to reduce the negative impact on the unique nature monument's ecosystem.

In 2021 employees of Rosneft's enterprises in Tyumen region – RN-Uvatneftegaz, Tyumenneftegaz and Tyumen Petroleum Research Centre – took part in the environmental campaign "I make our homeland cleaner – Tyumen. Solyonoye Lake". The area has been landscaped and litter bins and composting toilets have been installed on the banks of the lake within the campaign. There are information boards for tourists about the curative properties of mud and clay (it helps with gynaecological, skin, musculoskeletal, nervous and cardiovascular diseases) and the unique water characteristic.

Research has confirmed that the water and mud of Solyonoye Lake are very similar in composition to the water and mud of the famous Dead Sea in the Middle East. Since 2011, the lake has had the status of a nature monument of regional importance.
