RN-Yuganskneftegaz’s Green Investment Exceeds 5 Billion Roubles in 2021
In 2021, RN-Yuganskneftegaz’s green investment in environmental protection measures exceeded 5 billion roubles. Funds were allocated for measures to increase the beneficial use of associated petroleum gas (APG), improve pipeline reliability, as well as energy conservation and land remediation, including the historical legacy lands.
Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production. Rosneft is actively implementing the principles of circular economy and confirms its previously stated goals of 100% recycling of waste and historical legacy land remediation.
As a result of pipeline diagnostics and repair measures, the enterprise has reduced the number of failures by 50% over the last five years. More than 13,000 km of pipelines are now under constant control of RN-Yuganskneftegaz’s environmental service. Monitoring is conducted 24 hours a day, using up-to-date telemetry devices that transmit data in real time to a geographical information system.
Aerial monitoring is provided by 12 teams, with 17 unmanned aerial vehicles, including five special-purpose aircraft that can fly even in winds of up to 25m/s.
At the end of 2021, the Company’s Board of Directors approved the Rosneft-2030: Reliable Energy and Global Energy Transition strategy, which was based on the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 for Scope 1 and 2. Meeting this target is planned to be achieved by technical measures for emission reduction, increased use of low-carbon energy sources, energy-saving technologies, carbon capture and storage technologies, developing forest carbon sequestration.
