RN-Nyaganneftegaz Presents Unique Artwork Exhibition
As part of a project to promote and preserve red-listed species, the corporate museum of RN-Nyaganneftegaz (production enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company) has opened an exhibition dedicated to the flora and fauna of the Kamennoye field. Nyagan residents are the artists of the exhibition.
Over the course of six months, the aspiring artists were involved in research work on rare birds and animals, attending overview tours and educational lectures at the museum. A collection of 40 paintings has been created through this environmental project. The “Red Book of Kamennoye Field” exhibition will be held in four exhibition halls in Nyagan until the end of September.
The northern part of Kamennoye is located within the Upper Dvuobye wetland. This is the world’s largest area of mass nesting and moulting of Arctic birds, a habitat for waterfowl, an important source of subsistence and spawning of rare fish species. The site’s grasslands are home to 50 plant species. The variety of its fauna includes red-listed species such as the lesser white-fronted goose, the white-tailed eagle, the common sandpiper, the red-breasted goose, and the white crane (Siberian crane).
The Kamennoye field appeared on the oil map of Western Siberia exactly 60 years ago. Today, the field is a site for innovative projects. Automated production processes provide for online monitoring of the sites and onshore infrastructure. Kamennoye’s geological reserves stand at around 1 billion tonnes of hydrocarbons, with more than 300 million tonnes of recoverable oil.
