Bashneft Allocates 2.7 Billion Roubles for Environmental Projects
Bashneft, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company, has allocated more than 2.7 billion roubles for environmental projects in the first six months of 2022. Green investments and environmental protection measures under implementation are designed to reduce the impact on the atmosphere, increase the utilisation of associated gas, safely dispose of industrial waste, remediate land, implement pipeline reliability programmes, restore forests, replenish fish fauna and meet the requirements of environmental legislation.
Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production.
Over the first six months of 2022, Bashneft has reduced its emissions by 7% by implementing environment-oriented measures. Associated petroleum gas utilisation in the main production region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, was 96.4%, with a standard of at least 95%.
Bashneft continues its active work to reduce the accumulation of oil-contaminated waste, in particular, at specialised sites using state-of-the-art technologies that have passed state environmental expert review. In the first half of 2022, a total of more than 72,000 tonnes of oil sludge has been processed. Their accumulated volume was down 6% for Bashneft overall for the first half of the year. The oil production unit has achieved the maximum reduction in accumulated oil sludge, by 25%.
Another important area of Bashneft’s environmental activities is the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity and the replenishment of natural resources. In the summer of 2022, Bashneft released over 570,000 fry of valuable fish species into water bodies in the republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan, as well as the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.
Bashneft employees planted over 34,000 tree saplings in Bashkortostan over an area of more than 8 hectares as part of the international Garden of Remembrance campaign and the Green Bashkiria republican environmental campaign. This autumn, Bashneft is set to continue its large-scale greening efforts in the regions of operation. Employees are to plant conifers in Bashkortostan and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District across an area of over 177 hectares. Thus, Bashneft will plant 1,170 hectares of young forest between 2021 and 2022.
