Rosneft Participates in Earth Hour Global Environmental Campaign

Rosneft and its subsidiaries will take part in the Earth Hour Global Campaign that will take place on March 26, 2022. The initiative is the largest environmental campaign on the planet, and has been held annually since 2007.

The campaign aims to raise global awareness of climate change and the need to respect the use of natural resources. In 2022, the slogan is Earth Hour – Earthlings Hour, calling on everyone in their everyday lives to take care of all the creatures that inhabit our planet. Participants of the initiative around the globe switch off their lights and facade lighting for 1 hour simultaneously.

Rosneft traditionally supports the campaign and switches off the lighting at the Company’s head office on Sofia embankment in Moscow, as well as the exterior lighting of the Group Companies’ administrative buildings, where it does not contradict health, safety and electrical safety regulations. Employees from more than 80 Group subsidiaries and their families will join the campaign in 2022 by switching off the lights in their homes for one hour.

Rosneft is guided in its activities by the highest standards to ensure environmental safety and the conservation and rebound of natural resources. To achieve the best performance in this area, the Company is constantly improving its approaches to environmental management, increasing the scale of environmental measures and the necessary investments in environmental protection.

An important part of Rosneft’s environmental agenda is resource conservation. The Company is implementing an energy saving programme that provides for extensive activities, the implementation of which significantly increases efficient use of energy and fuel resources and prevents greenhouse gas emissions. Over the past three years, the economic impact of its implementation reached 23 billion roubles; savings reached 1.6 million tonnes of fuel equivalent.
