Rosneft Participates in Maritime Studies and Education Conference

Rosneft specialists took part in the 11th International Scientific and Practical Conference «Marine Research and Education: MARESEDU-2022» held at the RAS Institute of Oceanology and Lomonosov Moscow State University. The conference traditionally brings together scientists and experts from research institutes and leading universities in the country.

Employees from the Company’s Arctic Research Centre presented a report on the results of multi-year environmental work in the Arctic. The conference participants were briefed on the preliminary results of the second field season of the Ivory gull population in the northern Kara Sea. This bird is a bioindicator of Arctic ecosystems, and the high latitudes of Russia are the core of the world population of the rare species.

The round table on the evolution of the Barents-Kara shelf blanket glaciation discussed new data obtained from Rosneft’s latest scientific geological expeditions. This information could be an important key to understanding the global climate change processes taking shape in the Arctic region.

In total, the 2022 programme included more than 350 papers on topics such as oceanology, terrestrial hydrology, marine biology, geology, hydrographic and geophysical studies, and environmental protection. The best presentations by young scientists were honoured with a special conference prize – books from the Ecological Atlases of Russia’s Seas series, which Rosneft publishes in partnership with Innopraktika.
