Orenburgneft Develops Educational Institutions in the Region

Orenburgneft, an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s oil production complex, is improving the scientific and educational infrastructure at its partner schools and universities and is initiating the creation of new training centres.

The Rosneft 2030 Strategy includes supporting Russia’s state policy in the area of education and human resource development. Under the cooperation agreements with various regions of Russia, Rosneft implements projects for the social infrastructure development aimed at creating a friendly environment for ensuring a full life, health protection, education and upbringing of children.

Orenburgneft has funded the purchase of innovative equipment for the laboratory of the Gubkin Russian State Oil and Gas University’s Department of Welding and Monitoring. The digital welding station simulates real-life production processes and offers online training in welding skills. The industrial controller, based on advances in the aerospace and nuclear industries, is designed to monitor welded structures in corrosive environments.

The Department of Geology, Geodesy and Cadastre at the Orenburg State University has received funding from Orenburgneft to purchase new computers equipped with a special geo-information system, as well as training VR complexes for disciplines associated with oil and gas production. In addition, the enterprise has sponsored the university’s specialist training laboratory to be equipped with a mobile drilling rig to improve the quality of geotechnical engineering training for students.

Furthermore, in 2022, the enterprise’s energy specialists have initiated the opening of an Electrical Supply Department at the Buzuluk branch of the Orenburg State University, which will train energy specialists for the oil and gas industry. The first applicants have already been enrolled in the new specialist department.

Six school classrooms, where pupils from Rosneft Classes from Orenburg Region study, have undergone major repairs as part of the corporate system of continuous education “School—University—Enterprise”. The classrooms have been equipped with modern furniture in the corporate colours as well as advanced teaching aids, computers with software and office equipment.

Note for Editors:

Professional training of future staff for Orenburgneft begins with the specialised Rosneft Classes, which run at three schools in the region. In-depth study of precision subjects, further education involving teachers from partner universities, tours to Orenburgneft facilities, team-building and career guidance activities introduce schoolchildren to the main oil professions and the Company’s values and culture. In seven years, more than 450 students have graduated from specialised classes and gone on to study at the country’s leading universities.

Orenburgneft cooperates with seven partner universities, including the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, St Petersburg Mining University, Kazan Federal University, Kuban State Technological University and others. The enterprise helps them develop their teaching and logistics facilities, provides corporate scholarships for the best students and grants for teachers to organise research and development work.

Over the past three years, nearly 200 students of specialised universities and colleges have had work placements at the enterprise, and over 350 young workers are employed by Orenburgneft every year once they finish their studies.
