Bashneft Sums Up Results of Recycling Collection Programme
Bashneft (part of Rosneft) has summarised the results of its medium-term environmental recycling programme. Since 2018, a total of 72600 tonnes of scrap metal, over 190 tonnes of paper and cardboard, 28 tonnes of glass and over 4 tonnes of plastic have been collected and handed over for recycling.
Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture and business operations of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production. Affirming its commitment to achieving sustainability goals, Rosneft implements projects every year that contribute to the transition to a circular economy*.
The collected waste is fed into the recycling process as a raw material for the metal, glass and cellulose industries, which produce consumer goods from recycled plastic.
One of the most important components of environmental protection at Bashneft is the separate collection of household waste. In the offices and industrial sites of the Company’s branches and subsidiaries, there are specially labelled containers for the collection and storage of various types of recyclable resources – glass, paper, plastic and batteries.
Bashneft enterprises regularly organise environmental events and educational activities for young people to raise awareness of the need for separate waste collection.
*A circular economy aims to change the classic linear model of production by focusing on products and services that minimise waste and other types of pollution.
