RN-Vankor Produces 80 Billion M3 of Associated Petroleum Gas at the Vankor Cluster

RN-Vankor, a part of Rosneft oil production complex, has produced 80 billion m3 of associated petroleum gas (APG) since the start of commercial operation at the Vankor cluster of fields.

Vankor has one of the most extensive and advanced gas gathering, treatment and transportation systems, which ensures one of the highest APG utilization rates in the industry - over 99%. Gas infrastructure facilities are fitted with modern equipment with systems of automated control and monitoring of production processes.

The feedstock produced in the fields is sent to the gas treatment and compression facilities located at the central gathering point (CGP) of the Vankor field. Gas is also supplied to the CGP from the Suzun field via the Suzun-Vankor interfield gas pipeline, which is 79 km long.

The main volume of produced feedstock is supplied to consumers via the Vankor - Khalmerpayutinskoye gas trunkline, which is 108 km long. Since 2014, more than 44 billion m3 has already been sent to the country's Unified Gas Supply System.

Associated petroleum gas is widely used for the technological needs of RN-Vankor production sites: it is injected into the reservoir to maintain reservoir pressure and serves as fuel for the Vankor 200 MW gas turbine power plant. In addition, APG produced at Suzun, Tagul and Lodochnoye fields serves as fuel for gas piston generator sets of temporary power generation complexes.

The implementation of a comprehensive gas program at the Vankor cluster is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of Rosneft large-scale Vostok Oil project in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region. The use of APG as fuel for gas turbine units is provided for in Vostok Oil's energy supply program.

The Company began the works on Vostok Oil's key energy facilities in 2021. The most part of the energy - about 2.8 GW - will be provided by the Irkinskaya, Baikalovskaya, Vostochno-Suzunskaya, Payakhskaya and Novoognennaya gas turbine power plants. The design capacity of the Irkinskaya GTPP, which is included in the list of Phase 1 facilities, will be 820 MW, the maximum in Rosneft's perimeter. The new plant will provide electricity to the fields of the Payakha cluster. Power supply to the oil transportation system facilities will be provided by the Baikalovskaya GTPP with a capacity of 976 MW.

RN-Vankor, a subsidiary of Rosneft, is the operator of the development of the Vankor cluster of fields (Vankor, Suzun, Tagul, and Lodochnoye) and the Payakha group of fields, which are part of Vostok Oil, the largest investment project in the global oil and gas industry being implemented by Rosneft in the north of Krasnoyarsk region. The resource base of the project exceeds 6.5 billion tonnes of premium low-sulphur oil.

Vostok Oil is comprised of 52 license areas located in the north of Krasnoyarsk Territory and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, which accommodate 13 oil and gas fields, including fields of the Vankor and Payakha clusters.

Low specific production costs and a minimal carbon footprint, which is 75% lower than that of similar projects, make Vostok Oil the most environmentally friendly and promising production asset.
