Bashneft Increases Power Generation from APG
Bashneft (part of Rosneft) increased its own power generation in 2022 by 3.3 million kWh compared to 2021, to 71.5 million kWh. Bashneft-Dobycha’s energy centres use associated petroleum gas as a fuel, bringing the level of rational use of APG to 96% and reducing the overall carbon footprint of oil production.
Improving the efficiency of production facilities is one of the key elements of Rosneft 2030: Sustainable Energy and the Global Energy Transition. The Company systematically implements targeted programmes for the rational use of energy resources, focusing on the use of associated gas in heat and power generation and gas chemistry.
Bashneft-Dobycha tripled its share of APG for power generation in 2022, with a total volume of over 6 mln m3. The enterprise operates three power plants using only APG as fuel. The electricity they generate is used to power oil and gas production facilities in energy-poor regions and areas remote from infrastructure.
The cost of 1 kWh of electricity generated by the enterprise’s own power plants was 21% lower than the tariffs charged by external energy suppliers.
