Rosneft Holds Career Days at the Country's Leading Universities

As part of its cooperation with Russian higher education institutions, Rosneft's subsidiaries held a series of career guidance events at the country's leading universities. They were attended by over ten thousand students and applicants, as well as employees from the Company's 35 subsidiaries.

Annual Rosneft Days and Career Days provide an opportunity to learn about the Company's activities, internship and employment opportunities, and the most in-demand positions. Participants can take part in lectures, business games, guided tours, presentations, master classes, tests of professional skills, etc. This year, for example, the technologists and ecologists of the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery conducted practical «Lessons from professionals» in chemistry, economics and ecology for students of the relevant departments of SamSTU, the Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical Technical College and students of Rosneft classes.

The oil and gas industry offers tremendous opportunities for the development of science and innovative technologies and the implementation of IT developments. With this in mind, specialists from the Izhevsk Oil Scientific Centre chose the Institute of Mathematics, Information Technology and Physics of the Udmurt State University as the venue for the Career Day. IOSC staff also took part in the IT Career Night event, where over 1,500 IT students attended to meet potential employers.

When organising career days, the Company's enterprises are not limited to the regions of operation. Representatives of RN-Vankor visited Tomsk and met with students of Polytechnic University, Tomsk State University and Polytechnic College. Meetings were held in various formats with students from the Siberian Federal University, the M.F. Reshetnev Siberian State University and the Krasnoyarsk Construction College. RN-Vankor, which is implementing Vostok Oil, a major oil production project in the north of the Krasnoyarsk region, plans to hire more than 4,000 core specialists this year alone. TBS Logistika, which operates the Vostok Oil Project, is looking to fill another 7,000 vacancies.

Representatives of Udmurtneft have also repeatedly visited neighbouring regions, visiting the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, the Perm National Research Polytechnic University, the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, the Kazan National Research Technical University and the St Petersburg Mining University as part of the Udmurtneft and Rosneft Days.

In addition to cooperation with universities, a number of Rosneft enterprises took part in the All-Russia Job Fair this spring. For example, Bashneft presented its platform at the national festival of in-demand professions PROFFEST, which was attended by more than 6,500 people. Entering the Bashneft zone, the guests were taken on a journey of oil, from geophysical exploration and upstream to refining and marketing of petroleum-based products. In addition, the Bashneft-PROFI Corporate Training Centre demonstrated training programmes using 3D modelling and augmented reality technology. Candidates were able to see what it is like to be an oil and gas production operator using augmented reality glasses, learn about the work of chemical analysis laboratory technicians, immerse themselves in refinery management on a computer simulator, and learn about the structure and operation of a petrol station using an interactive mock-up.

Rosneft cooperates with 189 partner educational institutions, including 75 universities and 58 colleges, to achieve its goals of attracting highly qualified personnel. Over the five years more than 27,000 students from Russian universities have undertaken an internship at Rosneft's subsidiaries. They were from M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas and Far Eastern Federal University, among others. Such practice allows future professionals to effectively apply the theoretical knowledge acquired in universities.  Internship programmes help to acquire skills not only in corporate training centers but also directly at production facilities.

This partnership is conducted within the framework of continues education system which includes school as its first step, then university and then internship. The programme has been in place since 2005 and ensures a steady inflow of young specialists with a high level of training. Rosneft subsidiaries have employed almost 6,000 graduates of profile universities over the last five years.
