Bashneft Invests 3.6 Billion Rubles in Environment-Oriented Projects in H1 2023

Bashneft (part of Rosneft) invested over 3.6 billion roubles in environmental projects in the first half of 2023, 33% more than in the same period last year. The funds will be used for reducing air pollution, land remediation, reforestation and replenishment of fishery resources.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimizing the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production.

In the main producing region - the Republic of Bashkortostan - Bashneft achieved 96.15% useful utilisation of associated gas, while the statutory standard is 95%.

Bashneft continues its active work to reduce the accumulation of oil-contaminated waste, in particular, at specialised sites using state-of-the-art technologies that have passed state environmental expert review. In total, more than 59,000 tonnes of oil sludge were processed in the first half of 2023.

Protecting ecosystems and biodiversity and natural resources recovery is another important area of Bashneft's environmental activities. Bashneft employees and their families planted about 25 thousand tree saplings on an area of more than 16 hectares during the International Action "Garden of Memory" and the Republican Ecological Action "Green Bashkiria". 12.5 thousand pine trees were planted in Kushnarenkovsky and Chishminsky districts, 12.5 thousand fir trees - in Iglinsky and Askinsky districts of Bashkortostan.

Environmental initiatives of Bashneft for protection of ecosystems and biodiversity and recovery of natural resources will continue in August and autumn 2023. More than 560 thousand young trees are planned to be planted on the territory of Bashkortostan and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug on the area of 158 hectares. More than 20 thousand fries of valuable fish species are also planned to be released into the water bodies of Bashkortostan and the Nenets Autonomous District.
