Orenburgneft Supports Creation of Environmental Art Object
Orenburgneft, Rosneft’s production asset, presented the residents of Buzuluk with a new street art object. The thematic drawing (mural*) is painted on the wall of Neftyanikov Park, its length is more than 140 metres. The ceremony is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Orenburgneft.
Mural is dedicated to protecting rare animals and birds and restoring the planet’s biodiversity. Evenki reindeer, polar bear, Atlantic walrus, Black Sea dolphin and other animals cared for by Rosneft are depicted in the centre of the mural. Core species populations are represented in their ecosystems and are distributed across seasons, transitioning seamlessly from one to the next.
Rosneft, which is committed to wildlife conservation and maintaining sustainable ecosystems, implements a number of programmes to study and protect animals, including those on the Red List. Over the past five years, the Company has invested 760 million roubles in preserving biodiversity.
The mural was unveiled as part of the EcoWorld Art Festival. The event was attended by regional artists, members of the public and young residents of the Orenburg region. The event included informative talks, art workshops and competitions on environmental topics. Visitors to the festival were also involved in the creation of the ecological mural, completing small details of the large painting.
Throughout the event, the festival participants were accompanied by an animator dressed as a polar bear – the Company’s symbol. The polar bear has been under the care of Rosneft since 2014. They are providing funding for research into the Arctic predator, as well as for its conservation in all Russian zoos.
The artistic concept of the mural is based on another environmental aspect of oil workers’ activities – the conservation and restoration of natural resources. Rosneft focuses on the protection of forests, a natural factor in maintaining the climate balance. Employees of Rosneft Oil Company and its subsidiaries planted more than 18 million seedlings of trees of various species in 2020-2022.
*Mural is a form of the monumental pictorial art at the walls of buildings.
