Rosneft Volunteers Clean Volga Banks in an Environmental Campaign

Employees of the Saratov Oil Refinery (an enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company’s refining complex) cleaned the Volga flows and banks from garbage as part of an environmental campaign.

The event was attended by 30 enterprise eco-activists who swam three kilometers on sapboards and collected about 375 kg of daily waste from the water and river banks.

Oil industry professionals, who share a passion for sports, have taken part in the event for the second consecutive year. During this time, with the help of volunteers from the Saratov Oil Refinery, over 800 kilograms of daily  waste were collected from the Volga water area and sent for recycling. The campaign is designed to popularize the care of nature and the culture of a healthy lifestyle.

Preservation of the environment for future generations is an integral part of Rosneft corporate culture. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production and implements several comprehensive programmes for the preservation and restoration of natural resources.

Environmental volunteering is an important part of the ongoing environment-oriented initiatives of Rosneft’s subsidiaries. Last year, employees of the Saratov Refinery held 20 environmental campaigns, collecting more than 7 tons of waste. The enterprise has been running volunteer campaigns for several years to collect plastic lids and batteries. 

Many events are also attended by employees’ family members, veterans, students of industry-specific educational institutions and volunteers.
