Ryazan Oil Refining Company commissioned “digital” rail car scales for high-precision metering of products

Ryazan Oil Refining Company (a member of Rosneft's refining complex) commissioned rail car scales for high-precision metering of marketable products. The new digital equipment will reduce the permissible error to 0.2% when measuring the weight of loaded and empty rail cars, including entire trains in motion. This will significantly reduce weighing time, increase labor productivity, and eliminate potentially hazardous types of work.

Commissioning of high-precision equipment is another stage in implementation of Ryazan Oil Refining Company's “digital plant” project. Digitalization provides ultra-precise control over the shipment of marketable products using an automated system for measuring the quantity and quality indicators of petroleum products, and makes it possible to automate management of technological processes and emergency protection systems at all main process units of the enterprise.

The scales are equipped with a computerized weighing control system. Built-in sensors react to the load from the passing train. Advanced electronics allows recognizing the car number, determining and fixing the weight with high precision. The dynamic mode of the scales provides weighing of each car without uncoupling while the train is moving at a speed of up to 10 km/h.

The project is a practical step towards implementation of Rosneft's strategy aimed at introducing advanced technological solutions and control automation to improve efficiency of production facilities.

Ryazan Oil Refining Company is gradually developing production and improving technological processes. Measures taken in recent years enabled the plant to start production of new gasoline with improved environmental and operational properties - Euro 6, AI-100, low-sulfur marine fuel.
