A new ice palace opens with support of Bashneft
A new modern ice palace was opened in the town of Oktyabrsky. The sports facility was built with the support of Bashneft under the Cooperation Agreement between Rosneft and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The total area of the ice palace is 6500 m2. The grandstands equipped with padded armchairs are designed for 800 spectators. The complex is provided with all necessary sports equipment - from exercise machines for hockey players and figure skaters to a special ice resurfacer.
The equipment of the modern sports facility will allow holding winter sports competitions of both regional and federal level on a year-round basis.
The ice palace opening ceremony was attended by Odes Baysultanov, Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia, and Vladislav Tretyak, President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation.
"I am honored to congratulate everyone today on this great occasion on behalf of the Federation. This is a celebration of hockey! This is number 701 hockey stadium currently in operation in our country. You know that Russia is a sports nation. We hold many competitions: Olympic Games, World Championships in various sports, University Games. Why are we doing this? To attract as many young people as possible to sports grounds. To make a healthy lifestyle a part of every person's culture. To use sports for bringing up patriots of our country devoted to their motherland," Vladislav Tretyak noted.
The ice palace is available not only to professional athletes, but also to residents of Oktyabrsky and neighboring communities, where more than 120 thousand people live. The sports center will have hockey and figure skating groups functioning, and there is an intention to arrange public ice-skating. The facility features locker rooms, shower rooms, coaches' rooms, choreographic and conference halls, a gym, skate rental and equipment storage premises, as well as a medical office and a cafeteria. Mobility impaired people have everything necessary for moving around comfortably, including wheelchair ramps and a special-purpose elevator. The complex's power supply infrastructure includes its own transformer substation and boiler house.
Support of mass and youth sports is one of the key areas of social work of Rosneft and its subsidiaries. The Company finances the construction of sports complexes, arenas and multi-purpose sports grounds in the regions where it operates. Dozens of modern large sports facilities have been opened in Russia's regions with the assistance of Rosneft. The Company supports projects intended to develop and promote physical culture and a healthy lifestyle.
Thanks to Bashneft's assistance, more than 30 sports facilities have been opened in 16 districts of Bashkortostan since 2017. These include an ice palace in Kumertau, a world-class skate park in Dyurtyuli and the Spartak stadium in Tuymazy - the largest sports facility in the west of the Republic. Six training sites were opened in Blagoveshchensky District. They are located in the Ufa Falcon sports center, previously built with the support of Bashneft. The sports center trains 3,000 children in 62 sports. Zhemchuzhina, a modern sports and recreation center, was built in the village of Bulgakovo in the Ufa District of the Republic - this is the only such sports complex in the village, where more than 6,000 people live. Bashneft also supported the construction of 10 multifunctional sports and recreation centers in various districts and towns of the Republic.
