New Era School in Tulun Joins Ministry of Education’s Project for Gifted Children
As part of the federal Success for Every Child project, 10 students from Kirovsk in the Lugansk People’s Republic and 30 students from Tulun received additional general education training at the New Era School built by Rosneft on behalf of the Russian President. It aims to support and develop children’s skills and talents.
The location for the implementation of the new federal project of the Russian Ministry of Education was chosen because of the high level of technical equipment of the school and the qualifications of the teaching staff. New Era School provides all the conditions for learning and all-round development of the students. It covers an area of almost 23,000 m2. There are 67 classrooms with innovative equipment.
The training programme included activities designed to develop the children’s individual creative skills. During the multidisciplinary summer shift, students took part in master classes, including using a unique chemistry and physics laboratory complex installed by Rosneft when the school was established. The students organised an exhibition of robots that they had built under the guidance of their teachers. They also put on a performance of «The Flying Ship». Thanks to high-speed internet with a dedicated fibre-optic link, the school’s TV studio broadcast daily news bulletins.
The school offers a wide range of sporting opportunities – it has two swimming pools, a multi-purpose gymnasium and a sports field where students have been organised to take physical education classes and pass GTO standards.
By inviting schoolchildren from Kirovsk to Irkutsk region, the educational level of the children was raised, their horizons broadened, and they were encouraged to develop mutual support, patriotism, a sense of community and unity of the country and the inhabitants of different Russian cities.
The New Era School opened three years ago. Since then, the school has repeatedly become a platform for education and awareness. Since 2020, the school has been a focal point for the national Step into the Future programme, which hosts zonal scientific and practical conferences.

The school opened on September 1, 2020. On the instructions of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Rosneft built and fully equipped New Era School in Tulun (Irkutsk region), which suffered from a severe flood in 2019, in a record time of 300 days.
To fulfil the presidential instructions, more than a thousand builders worked daily at the construction site in difficult climatic conditions. The work was carried out almost around the clock.
The construction was supervised by the Angarsk Petrochemical Company, Rosneft’s largest oil refinery in Eastern Siberia.
The school was named «New Era», symbolising a new stage in the development of education in the town of Tulun. It is not just an educational institution, but a unique multifunctional complex. The school has six computer science classrooms, a class of robotics for children, a design studio, a publishing centre, a TV studio, an engineering class, a language laboratory and a museum with an educational exposition.
Rosneft equipped physics, chemistry, and biology classrooms with laboratory complexes, natural science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and geography classrooms – with digital laboratories.
