Bashneft Plants 30,000 Trees in The Natural Park of Bashkiria
Employees of Bashneft (a subsidiary of Rosneft Oil Company) planted 30,000 conifer seedlings in the Asly-Kul Natural Park in Davlekanovsky District, Republic of Bashkortostan. The planting took place as part of the Green Bashkiria regional campaign.
Environmental protection for future generations is a priority for Rosneft. The Company runs a number of extensive environmental programmes and maintains a leading position in minimising its environmental footprint and making its operations environmentally friendly. Our company annually invests significant funds in environmental protection activities, including the implementation of forest restoration and compensation programmes.
Employees of Bashneft-Dobycha (Bashneft's key oil and gas production asset) planted greenery in the Asly-Kul Nature Park. With the help of Nyagan's oil workers, pine and larch trees are now growing on 7.5 hectares of previously deserted territory near the shore of Lake Aslykul. The most suitable planting site was determined by experts from the Institute of Biology of the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The planting of trees on the territory of this natural park creates favorable conditions for the restoration of the hydrological regime of the lake. The new forest will protect the territory from the blow-out of snow precipitation, which will prevent springs from drying up and provide the lake with a natural water supply. The forest will also prevent soil erosion products, mineral and organic substances from nearby agricultural lands from entering the lake, and stop the erosion and waterlogging of the lake shoreline.
Next fall, Bashneft employees plan to plant another 30,000 conifer seedlings in the water protection zone of Lake Aslykul. The natural green shield that will be formed by the grown-up trees in a few years will improve the local microclimate and create conditions for lake restoration, as well as increase the number of populations of rare animal species listed in the Red Book of Russia living near the lake.
In 2022, Bashneft planted more than 470 thousand tree seedlings, including trees planted under the Memory Garden International Campaign and the Green Bashkiria republican environmental campaign. The Company is constantly planting greenery in the regions where it operates.
