Rosneft holds a costumed athletics race in the Orenburg Region
Orenburgneft, Rosneft’s key asset in the Volga region, organised a costumed athletics race. The sports festival, held to mark the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, kicked off the running season and brought together people of different generations, nationalities and professions in one place.
Employees of the enterprise, activists from the ‘Movement of the First’ and representatives of Buzuluk’s running communities took part in the sports and cultural running event. The traditional costumes of the ethnic groups living in the Orenburg region added a colourful touch to the festivities. The athletes took to the track wearing Russian sarafans and kosovorotkas, Belarusian linen shirts with ornamental patterns, Tatar kamzols and skullcaps, Bashkir dresses with chest decorations, Mordovian embroidered panar shirts, and Chuvash headdresses adorned with coins.
The route of the traditional five-kilometre race went through the picturesque park paths. The organisers prepared a 500-metre race for the younger participants. In addition, an educational quiz named ‘Encyclopaedia of Our Native Land’ was organised for all guests, featuring questions on the history of the Orenburg region, national customs and folklore. A tasting of traditional dishes was held in the makeshift fairground, accompanied by folk music. The guests sampled fragrant Tatar chak-chak, crumbly Bashkir qistibi with mashed potatoes, Mordovian millet pancakes and Chuvash pies filled with meat. The programme concluded with a fashion show featuring the participants wearing traditional Russian kokoshniks.
Support for mass sport and a healthy lifestyle are key priorities of Rosneft’s social policy. In the regions where it operates, the Company builds and renovates multipurpose sports complexes and facilities, as well as ice rinks, and organises mass sporting events across various disciplines for children and adults.
