Rosneft-Sponsored World Sambo Cup Takes Place in Armenia

Rosneft sponsored the World Sambo Cup in Yerevan, Armenia. A total of 289 athletes from 21 countries participated in the competition.

A total of 33 sets of medals were awarded in the men's and women's sports and combat sambo events during the tournament. For the first time, the World Cup hosted official international sambo competitions for blind female athletes.

At the end of the competition, Russian sambo athletes won the medal standings. The athletes won 51 medals, including 24 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze. The Russian sambo athletes competed in the tournament under their national flag and to their national anthem. The audience was captivated by the thrilling bouts, with the final matches being particularly fierce. Experts noted an increase in the overall level of competition in the matches after the competition. Competition results will be given full consideration in the selection process for the Sambo World Championships.

Since 2013, Rosneft has been supporting the International Sambo Federation. Since then, dozens of exciting tournaments have been held with the Company's support. With the Company’s support, the Sambo World Championships in Kyrgyzstan, the Asian and Oceania Sambo Championships in Uzbekistan, and the Sambo World Cup in Tajikistan and Armenia were all successfully held in 2025.
