Rosneft Opens VR Training and Laboratory Complex at Samara State Technical University
RN-Yuganskneftegaz, a key production asset of Rosneft, and the Company's Samara design institute, provided support for the opening of a VR training and laboratory complex at Samara State Technical University (SamSTU). The project was implemented as part of the corporate continuing education system, known as the “school-college/university-enterprise” model. This is the first facility of its kind among higher education institutions in the Samara Region.
The virtual reality centre, established within the Department of Geology and Physical Processes in Oil and Gas Production, is dedicated to applied research, development and testing of virtual reality solutions. In the classroom, students will have the opportunity to study the entire cycle of oil and gas field development, from simulating reservoir processes to managing onshore infrastructure for production, gathering and processing.
The classroom is equipped with high-tech equipment, including virtual reality systems, computers and an interactive display. It also has domestic software, including a VR simulator for well operation, an Automated Workstation for the Operator of the Oil and Gas Production Process Control System, with workstations for both the trainer and the trainee.
The use of a VR simulator will enable the delivery of professional development and retraining courses leading to the qualification of Oil and Gas Production Operator/Process Plant Operator.
The training classroom will serve as a platform for training staff with up-to-date skills, implementing joint educational projects between the Company's enterprises and the university, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and practical experience between students and industry professionals.
Rosneft is committed to a policy of social partnership, investing in the development of human resources in the regions in which it operates. The Company is focused on the long-term improvement of the industry, developing professional skills among young people, and strengthening the link between education and production.
For reference:
Rosneft has implemented the “School-College/University-Enterprise” corporate system of continuing education since 2005. The programme aims to build an external pool of young talent from schoolchildren and students in the regions where the Company operates, and to continually develop the professional skills of its employees.
