Bashneft Plants More Than 6,000 Trees to Mark Victory Day

Bashneft (part of Rosneft), has taken part in the Green Bashkiria 2026 environmental clean-up initiative and the national Forest Conservation project. Both events were held to coincide with Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War. In tribute to the veterans who fought at the front and those who sustained the war effort at home, the company's employees planted more than 6,000 young trees across various districts of the republic.

The avenues of trees, established on the eve of 9 May, serve as a living memorial to those who defended peace and freedom.  Some 200 Bashneft employees took part in the planting effort. Working together, they established conifer woodland across three hectares — an area equivalent to roughly four football pitches — in the Kushnarenkovsky and Chishminsky districts of Bashkortostan. Alongside traditional species such as linden, bird cherry and rowan, the oil workers also planted Japanese quince, red-leaved barberry and spirea.

Rosneft and its subsidiaries regularly organise and actively participate in patriotic initiatives aimed at fostering a sense of social responsibility. Bashneft's involvement in the campaign is intended to symbolise the passing of memory between generations — preserving the historical legacy of the Soviet people's wartime sacrifice and ensuring it is transmitted from veterans to younger generations.

For reference:

Basheft is one of the oldest oil and gas enterprises in the country engaged in oil production, refining, and marketing. The key assets of Bashneft, including the refinery and petrochemical complex, are located in the Republic of Bashkortostan. Additionally, Bashneft carries out exploration and production of oil in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District-Yugra, the Nenets Autonomous District, the Orenburg Region and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The Green Bashkiria environmental project is designed to strengthen environmental education and public awareness in the Republic of Bashkortostan, raise the standard of ecological literacy among the population, and promote inter-regional and international cooperation in support of the region's environmentally sustainable development.

The federal Forest Conservation project is being implemented as part of the national Ecology programme, with the goal of achieving a full balance between deforestation and reforestation. Its key objectives include large-scale afforestation efforts, the modernisation of regional forestry services with up-to-date firefighting equipment, and a reduction in damage caused by wildfires.
