Rosneft and E.ON Russia Signed Gas Supply Contract

Rosneft and E.ON Russia signed a contract for gas supply within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document was signed by the Chairman of Rosneft Management Board Igor Sechin, and General Director of E.ON Russia Maxim Shirokov.

Implementation of the gas potential is one of Rosneft’s strategic tasks. The company plans to expand its presence in the gas market and is actively developing this business dimension by signing long-term supply contracts with major gas consumers.

The contract signed with E.ON Russia provides for supply of 4.4 bсm of gas within 5 years. This resource will be directed to Surgutskaya GRES-2. The contract was signed in pursuance of an earlier contract for gas supply valid from 2013 to 2015.

The achieved agreements demonstrate the quality level of partnership and long-term cooperation between Rosneft and E.ON Russia, the two leaders of the Russian energy sector.

Rosneft is the leader in gas production among Russian oil companies. Gas production in 2014 amounted to 56.7 billion cubic meters. The recoverable gas reserves under the Russian classification (category ABC1 + C2) are 7.2 trillion cubic meters. Gas production constitutes 19% of the Company total hydrocarbon production.

In 2012, Rosneft and E.ON Russia signed a contract providing for gas supply in 2013-2015 to Surgutskaya GRES-2, a branch of E.ON Russia.

E.ON Russia

E.ON Russia was registered on March 4, 2005 in the city of Surgut. The charter capital of the company is 25,219,482,458.37 rubles, one share is nominally valued at 0.4 rubles.

83.7% of E.ON Russia shares are held by E.ON Russia Holding GmbH. – a 100% subsidiary of E.ON SE International Energy.

E.ON Russia comprises five thermal power plants with the total capacity of 10,345 MW: Surgutskaya GRES-2 (5,597 MW), Berezovskaya GRES (1,600 MW), Shatura GRES (1,493 MW), Smolensk GRES (630 MW), and Yayvinskaya GRES (1025 MW).

Electricity production in 2014 was 59.238 billion kWh; thermal energy - 2,211.0 thousand Gcal.

The investment program of E.ON Russia provides for construction of 2,400 MW new generating capacities. 4 combined cycle power units with total capacity of 1,600 MW were commissioned in 2010-2011 at Shatura GRES, Surgut GRES-2 and Yaivinskaya GRES. Another project of the investment program –construction of a 800 MW coal-fired power unit at Berezovskaya GRES is at the final stage of implementation.
