Rosnefteflot and Marine Chemical Research Institute sign agreement on testing of the specialized Arctic-class coatings

Rosnefteflot (Rosneft subsidiary) and Marine Chemical Research Institute Co. Ltd. (MCRI)  (ChemChina subsidiary) signed agreement on testing of the specialized Arctic-class coatings in ice conditions.

The document was signed following the current framework agreement between Rosneft and ChemChina for the construction of polymer coatings plant in the Far East.

The agreement provides for testing of the specialized Arctic-class coatings by means of applying such to the hull of one of Rosnefteflot’s vessels for subsequent testing during winter navigation period of 2017-2018. For this purpose, MCRI will provide Rosnefteflot with specialized coatings and will conduct monitoring of their application.

The signed agreement will facilitate further development of cooperation between Rosneft and ChemChina as part of the project for establishment of a joint venture for manufacturing of the specialized polymer coatings in the Bolshoy Kamen Advanced Development Zone.

Notes for editors:

On 2 June 2017, at the XXI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosneft and ChemChina signed agreement on development of the project for the construction of polymer coatings plant. As a result of the project implementation, the largest Russian plant for manufacturing of the specialized polymer coatings for various marine class vessels, including arctic class will be established.

Products planned for manufacturing at the plant will be used in the working process of the Zvezda shipbuilding complex that is being created on the instruction of the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
