Rosneft and Inter RAO UES agree to cooperate on developing small-capacity production and sales of LNG as motor fuel
As part of the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Rosneft and Inter RAO UES signed a Letter of Intent for cooperation on developing small-capacity production and sales of liquefied natural gas as motor fuel.
The document formalizes the intention of the parties to assess technological capabilities for liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, perspectives of its supplies from the plants (which are currently being designed by Inter RAO), for the purpose of combined sales of LNG and CNG (compressed natural gas) as motor fuel at the Rosneft retail sites network. According to the Letter of Intent, the parties will also prepare a list of projects for refitting the Rosneft retail sites with equipment manufactured under control of engineering units of Inter RAO UES.
Development of the CNG filling stations network and the infrastructure for selling LNG as motor fuel is one of the key priorities of Rosneft in retail business. Natural gas is a more environmentally friendly and efficient fuel type that helps car owners not only to considerably reduce costs but also to increase vehicles operating efficiency while reducing the environmental footprint.
