Rosneft and Primorsky Territory Develop Cooperation

Rosneft Oil Company and the Government of Primorsky Territory signed a long-term cooperation agreement at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum.

The document was signed by Igor Sechin, Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, and Oleg Kozhemyako, Governor of Primorsky Territory.

The agreement provides for cooperation between the parties in the implementation of various production, financial and social programmes. In particular, the document defines the measures of support of the Government of the Primorsky Territory for the Company’s significant projects in the region. One of the key ones is the Zvezda Shipbuilding complex. The enterprise is the leading employer in the region, with 11,500 people currently working at the yard. To create favourable social and living conditions for Zvezda employees, Rosneft, with the support of the Primorsky Territory Government, is implementing a comprehensive housing construction programme in Bolshoy Kamen.

The Company’s major projects in the region include the Primorsky Metallurgical Plant with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tonnes and the Rosneft Engineering Centre on Russky Island.

In addition, Rosneft and the Government of Primorsky Territory agreed to expand the Company’s interaction with regional suppliers and contractors, including participation in tenders for the supply of goods and services for the needs of the Company and its subsidiaries.

Under the agreement, the parties also plan to develop cooperation in the field of education, training of skilled workers and engineers for the shipbuilding industry. With the support of the Primorsky Territory Government, Rosneft will continue its cooperation with regional educational institutions to develop scientific, technical and innovative activities aimed at training future qualified specialists for the oil industry.

Rosneft and the Government of the Territory already have successful experience of cooperation in the implementation of a similar agreement, signed in 2018. According to the new document, the parties intend to continue working together to create conditions for improving the living standards of the region’s population, developing the social sphere and strengthening social stability.

Note for Editors:

The Zvezda Shipbuilding complex is being built in Bolshoy Kamen of Primorsky Territory by order of the Russian President. The Company has provided a pilot load for the shipbuilding complex – contracts have been signed for the construction of 28 vessels.

Zvezda Shipbuilding complex is Russia’s first large-capacity shipyard for the production of ice-class ships, ships with a displacement of up to 350,000 tonnes, special ships and other types of marine equipment. The shipyard’s portfolio already contains over 60 vessels.

The Zvezda Shipyard project includes facilities already commissioned and in operation, as well as the second phase of facilities under construction. The yard is already producing ships that have no analogues in Russian shipbuilding – Aframax tankers, ARC-7 class LNG ice-breaking tankers, ice-class shuttle tankers, etc.

Rosneft’s main logistics enterprise, RN-Maritime Terminal Nakhodka, operates in the region, handling petroleum products for the Magadan and Kamchatka regions and Sakhalin Island, as well as for export. The terminal provides bunkering services for ships using various types of fuel.
